Pure Tung Oil (China Wood Oil) — Cold-Pressed, No Accelerators
What is Tung Oil? Tung oil is a natural drying oil pressed from the seed of the tung tree (Vernicia fordii), native to China. When exposed to air, it cures into a clear, plastic-like, waterproof coating. Craftiviti's Tung Oil is 100% pure and cold-pressed — no accelerators, solvents, or additives.
Product Description
Craftiviti's Tung Oil, also known as China Wood Oil, Wood Oil, Lumbang Oil, or Noix d'Abrasin, comes from the pressed seed of the tung tree (Vernicia fordii, family Euphorbiaceae). Traditionally used to waterproof Chinese junk boats, this oil cures upon exposure to air into a transparent, satin "wetted wood" finish with a slight golden tint.
Our Tung Oil is cold-pressed — extracted mechanically without heat or chemicals, so it retains more of the tung seed's natural compounds. This means a pale, unrefined oil with a thicker, stickier consistency that penetrates deep into wood fibers. It takes longer to cure (7–10 days per coat) but rewards you with a tougher, more natural finish.
Beyond wood, Tung Oil also works on porous minerals like cement and granite, giving a "wet-stone" look — and it's used in oil paints and printing inks.
Note: Tung Oil may coagulate in damp, cold weather. Store in a cool, dry place.
