Plaster of Paris Mixing Guide
For a general-purpose mixture, use a 2:1 ratio of Plaster of Paris powder to water.
1. Cover your work surface with plastic or newspaper to protect it from spills and plaster residue.
2. Prepare two separate mixing containers and measure the Plaster of Paris powder and water separately.
3. Add the Plaster of Paris powder to the water by slowly sprinkling the powder over the surface of the water.
4. Allow the powder to absorb the water, then gently mix until you achieve a smooth, consistent mixture. Avoid vigorous stirring to minimise air bubbles.
4. If you would like to add colour, mix in poster paint or acrylic paint once the plaster reaches a smooth consistency. Continue mixing until the colour is evenly distributed.
5. Allow the mixture to rest for approximately one minute before carefully pouring it into your mould.
Tip: Work efficiently once the plaster is mixed, as Plaster of Paris begins to set after mixing.
